RHINESTONE RIDERS

The RHINESTONE RIDERS were formed in 2007 to promote friendships, the love of horses, good horsemanship and patriotism. All of their current riders call Wilburton, Oklahoma home. They are dedicated to promoting excellence in the Sport of Equestrian Drill Team.  

They are the 1st Charter Member of the OKEDA! 




 FREEDOM RIDERS  
  Yukon, OKLAHOMA

The FREEDOM RIDERS 4H Drill Team is a group of young girls and boys ages 8 to 18 from the Canadian County, Oklahoma 4H Program. This club is composed of 42 riders which practice year 'round under the direction of their coaches Ronnie Baker, Terri Hill and Reba Baker. Within their 6 years of existence, they have made their name known by traveling to parades and rodeos all over Oklahoma. They also attend drill team competitions where they have earned three Youth National Championship titles. They look forward to competing at the 2008 RED DIRT RIDE Region 4 Championships as well.


 

 CHICKS-N-SPURS  
 Mountain Home, ARKANSAS

The CHICKS-N-SPURS is a rodeo drill team with 17 members. They mainly travel across Arkansas and Missouri performing at rodeos such as Arkansas Cowboys Association, PRCA, IPRA and Great American Bull Rides. They performed in Texas in 2007 and are excited to venture into something new by competing at the RED DIRT RIDE Region 4 Championships in Duncan, Oklahoma.
The Chicks' 2008 season will consist of more than 20 performances. They're a group of girls that love to entertain a crowd, Ride Hard, Ride Fast, and Have Fun!

 BETTY BAKER 
 Oklahoma City, OKLAHOMA
* RED DIRT RIDE Chairperson *

 BETTY BAKER is a native Oklahoman being involved in the Sport of Equestrian Drill Team for well over 40 years.  She was a member of the former Sooner Saddle Club Drill Team in Oklahoma City, the founder of the former
CC Riders Drill Team, and a founding member of the current CANADIAN VALLEY RANGERETTES.  In 2003 she founded the FREEDOM RIDERS 4H DRILL TEAM (see above) retiring as their coach in 2006. An active member of her church, she also includes her granddaughter and horses as her hobbies.

HEATHER COMERATE competed heavily in the Sport of Equestrian Drill Team on the West Coast before moving to Oklahoma in 2001.  She has served as Drill Team Judge and Clinician across the country and is a Charter Member of the United States Equestrian Drill Association (USEDA). In 2002 she created her company DRILL FEVER! which provides products & services for the Sport.  She is the editor of an e-Newsletter which features Drill news and information, and enjoys conducting private and group Drill Clinics across the country.  A mother of two young girls she has been married to David Comerate for 13 years.




 
  MICHELLE PERKINS

  McLoud, OKLAHOMA

A Central Oklahoma native, MICHELLE PERKINS is an accomplished artist and desktop publisher.  She has been riding horses since she was 4 years old and currently rides with the CHOCTAW DANCING HOOVES drill team (See above).  A mother of three, she has been married almost 25 years. MICHELLE was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2000.  Being only in her early 40's, she is an inspiration to us all with her perserverance and constant cheerfulness.


   

                                                     



 NILA BIRCHETT

A founding member of the CANADIAN VALLEY RANGERETTES, NILA BIRCHETT has been with the team for 39 years!  She is currently their Drill Instructor and also enjoys time with her grandchildren, bowling and basketball. She has been a resident of Mustang, Oklahoma for almost 50 years and is married to Sam Birchett.
